Tutoring Tuesdays - October 24th, 2017

One more week until Halloween. Wow time flies!!!

Last Wednesday, I started out working with the 2nd grader on practicing subtracting 9's by playing Pumpkin Subtracting 9 Bump. We worked on the trick I taught her to add 1 to the 2nd digit to get the answer. Example 15-9 = 5+1 so it is 6. Another example 17-9 = 7+1=8. Easy quick way to memorize it. Next we worked on reviewing 2 digit by 2 digit subtraction regrouping with my Subtraction 2 Digit Regrouping Pumpkin Task Cards. It comes with a game board. Children make their way through the pumpkins and the first to the finish line wins. I laminate them so she can write on the cards. There is a recording sheet and answer key so you can use them with or without the game board. Click on the picture if you would like to use this in your classroom.
