One of the most popular classic children's books is "Where The Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. This great book helps spark children's imagination.
Did you know that this classic book is a song and now has a music video for it? That's right The Learning Station just released a video for their internationally hit song "Wild Things". This is a fun brain break song with incredible graphics. Children will love doing the fun movements that the wild thing makes. Children absolutely love Freeze Dance songs and this is a freeze dance song! The song is featured on the hit CD "Literacy In Motion" by The Learning Station. The hit CD also includes songs like "Five Little Monkeys", "I Know An Old Lady", "Green Eggs and Ham", and many more!
"Where The Wild Things Are" is also now a movie! It would be great to have children read the book, watch the movie, and listen to the song and then compare and contrast them!
There are affiliate links included for the movie and book. It doesn't cost you a penny more.

Haunted House Brain Break!
When I saw the new The Learning Station song "Haunted House", which is a fun freeze dance song I just KNEW I had to share it with my readers. Brain breaks are perfect to give your students a few minutes break from work. Us adults can only concentrate on something for about 30 minutes from what I have read. Children it is far less than that. So break up their work with a quick brain break! I thought this song would be great with Halloween approaching!
The Learning Station has two different versions of videos for the song. The first one is an animation video with the words printed on the screen. This makes it perfect for ELL/ESOL learners as well as children just learning to read! Children will love the graphics and the characters are done in a way that they are not scary looking!
The second version of the song has two children and Don Monopoli doing the actions for the brain break. The background shows them going through the haunted house with the various Halloween characters.
Which video for "Haunted House" is your favorite? Let me know in the comments. You can purchase the actual song on CD Baby or ITUNES.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
There's some great books, movies, and even a song that teach about feelings. I love Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst to help teach about feelings and how to handle them. Be sure to check out some other great Alexander books here.
You may have even seen the movie that would be great to show after reading the book. Please note that this blog post does include affiliate links.
You may have the CD "Literacy In Motion" by The Learning Station, which includes a song that goes with the book and movie called "Sad, Bad, Terrible Day". Just a few days ago The Learning Station released a video to go with this great song!
What do you think of this song and video?

Valentine's Day is approaching quickly.
Graphic from Ta-Doodle Illustrations.
It's a great time to celebrate friendships, loving one another, doing kind things, etc. As the time nears toward Valentine's Day children sometimes get a little restless. Check out some of my fun Valentine's Day themed products and some songs about friendship from The Learning Station. I have also added a linky party where you can check out more learning fun!

Fun With Penguins
One of my favorite topics to teach about each year is penguins.
Graphics above from Ashley Hughes.
I always read a lot of fun books on penguins both fiction and nonfiction. The Tacky The Penguin series of books was a huge favorite among my past 2nd graders. For nonfiction Penguins by Gail Gibbons has always been a huge favorite among both my 2nd graders and Kindergarten students Her books are also excellent to teach labeling and nonfiction text features.
I also am a big fan of using music in the classroom. The Learning Station just released two versions of Penguin song. One is animated and the other one is a live version. Both have the motions to go with the songs making them excellent brain breaks! Let us know in the comments, which penguin video is your favorite!
For some reason the 2nd video won't show up so click HERE to see the animation video for The Penguin Song.
I also love taking them on a virtual field trip to Sea World to see the penguins live! Check it out by clicking HERE. Your students will love it as well so I hope you take the time to watch both of them!
I also have some fun new Penguin products that can be placed at a centers. Check out my Penguin Multiplication Blast game that has a fun addition twist to it by clicking on any of the pictures and my fun Penguin Missing Number Equations Task Cards! The cute graphics are from Mel at Graphics From The Pond.
Also, if you look to the left of the page you'll see new Social Media buttons that my friend Carly made for me. You can visit her incredible blog by clicking HERE.
