Back to the Grind

Well I haven't posted a Positive Friday post in 2 weeks due to being super busy.  I will post a final one this Friday to sum it all up as we did some fun things that I want to talk about.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share the sad news today.  This morning I found out I will not be returning to the school I was hired at this school year.  In Florida, we are on annual contracts if you are not already grandfathered in and I was not since I left the school district I was at 3 years ago and ended up in a new district by choice.  So it is up to the principal each year to renew our contract or let it expire.  Mine was let to be expired.  I was told there is not enough room for me.  So the job hunt continues.  Someday I'll find the right place for me.

I do know I made a great difference in a lot of children's lives.  I received one of the nicest notes from a parent that was also sent to administration.  I blogged about this 3 weeks ago.  My toughest behavior student jumped from a level 8 to a level 16 in just 3 months time!  My 2nd toughest behavior child read a level 8 with instruction (level 6 is where we expect them to be, which doesn't match Kindergarten standards, it matches 1st grade).  I just 1 month my lowest students jumped from a rebus to a level 2, 2 jumped from level 1's to level 3's and 1 from a level 1 to a level 4.  Another child who had no clue how to write 2 months ago ended the year writing 3 sentences that I could figure out.

Until I find the job that is meant for me I'll be here a bit more often blogging and making new products for my someday classroom and maybe something you can use too!

I know I'm doing something right and somebody is going to see that and snatch me up.  No picture for this post, share the link on FB, twitter, Google + or e-mail if you want.

Thanks for hoppin' by Hopkins' Hoppin' Happenings.  Keep on smiling!

    1. Thanks Jennie, I will never give up trying to land the perfect job. This past one I was certainly lead to as I didn't even apply for it. Maybe the same thing will happen for the next school year. I know I made a difference in children's lives.

  5. I hope things work out for you, Brian. I remember how excited you were to get this position. They may have taken a position you loved away, but they can never take away the the positive impact you made in the lives of your students. Best of luck. Please keep us posted.

    1. Tami, thank you so much. You are right they may not have room for me there, but they sure can't take away the positive impact on each of my students. That's there for life! Hopefully, I can share good news soon.

      Brian
