How has it helped me?  In just over a year I have over 400 followers on my TPT store, I have sold over 1,000 items, just shy of 400 blog followers, over 3,000 followers on pinterest, and over, 1,400 facebook fans.  I also have almost 270,000 views on my blog.

Positive Behavior Plan/Money and Pin It To Win It!

First off do you want to win some of my teaching products?  It's pretty easy to do.

Now how about a really awesome positive behavior plan that I used while teaching 2nd grade.  I stopped using it part way through my last year of teaching 2nd because the school developed another positive plan and 2 were just too hard to juggle.  This one incorporates money, which fits 2nd Grade Common Core Standard!  On yeah!!!

First you'll need plastic coins and some Crayon Banks like these ones from Party Palooza.  If you google it you can find many places that carry them.  Click the picture for the ones from Party Palooza.  I forget where I got mine.

Next when your students are making good choices, maybe only a few opened their book, or some were quiet in line when others weren't, etc.  you would give them a coin.  I started with pennies in 2nd grade and then nickels and so forth.  Then every other Friday, I had my students count their coins and go shopping in my treasure chest store.  I had prizes valued at everything from 5 cents (plain pencils and erasers) up to $6 or $7 for an inner tube from the Dollar Tree, Teddy Bear, etc.  I had many prices in between. 

Besides teaching children to make good choices, this also taught my students to save money for something they really wanted and it helped reinforce counting coins!  You could start this even in Kindergarten using pennies and I've heard of teachers using it in 1st grade.  My students learned to tell me how much change they should get back!  I believe this would work for any grade level!  Older students put a student in charge of cashier every week or two instead of you doing it!

I know many classes don't do treasure chest anymore, but you could do this with your other rewards.  Assign money amounts for no shoes, eat with teacher, wear slippers, etc.

Blogging Tips

Today, I thought I would share some wonderful tips that helped me get to where I am today.  I currently have almost 76,000 views on my blog thanks to the amazing fans, teachers I have worked and subbed with, parents, and students!  You all amaze me that you keep coming back to take a look at what is new with me!  I have sold $250 worth a products as well.  Including my freebies, my teaching materials are in more than 4,000 classrooms.  WOW!  I can't wait to get a job so I can use them myself!

Enough of me, on to the tips:

1. Have a variety of posts on your blog.  I post freebies, paid products, common core materials, Positive Friday posts (will be on hold until school starts back unless I get to work with children first), book reviews, classroom management and teaching ideas.

2. When possible (right now I'm waiting on my computer to get back) post a few pictures, but not loads of pictures on each page (it slows the load time if you have too many) and pin them to pinterest.  Make sure your pictures of your products go to your store!

3. Post lots of freebies.  Everyone loves free things, not just those wonderful amazing kids!  Teachers love free things too!  You can never post enough freebies, ever!

4. Follow other blogs, TPT stores, TN stores, FB fan pages, pinterest, etc. and ask them to follow you back!

5. Anything you download leave a nice rating for their hard work and leave a very nice comment.  Children love when you praise them, we'll so do teachers!!!

6. Leave nice comments on blogs and FB pages, share those pages with others.

Pinterest

There is a lot of talk going around the internet about the legal part of Pinterest.  Pinterest basically owns whatever you pin or repin and if you end up in a legal fight you have to pay their attorney fees as well as your own.  Crazy if you if ask me as it is all in the fine print.  Laura Candler wrote an amazing post on this subject on her blog, which explains it a whole lot better.  Click on the Permission to Pin button for more from Laura.



I am granting you permission to pin any of my pictures.  I own 99% of the pictures that I post on my website and will not sue you so no worries there.  Shoot I don't even have enough money to sue anyone!  I will not be deleting any of my pins unless the owner themselves asks me to do so.

Next, I want to tell you about a fun group on Facebook that you may want to come be a part of.  It is called Pinning for Bloggers!  You can post any of your blogs or teaching products (free or for sale) in this group and the members there will repin it for you!  We just ask if you post things to pin, please pin the things that other members post as well.  The majority of people coming to my page are from Pinterest and this small group fromt he Facebook group is a large part of it.  What are you waiting on?  It is a fun positive group.  We stay away from negativity!  Come be a part of the fun by clicking on the picture below!
