Facebook Giveaways

Did you know that it is illegal to do Giveaways on Facebook?

Digital Paper for picture above from Ashley Hughes.

I know many teachers host these such giveaways including some with thousands of Facebook followers.  Many of these teachers probably don't realize it and you might be one.  I learned this from Charity Preston's Teaching Blog Traffic School.  This is one of the few things that I am allowed to share from the class.  If you are interested in learning more great tips for your blog, Facebook page, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.  click my affiliate link by clicking on the Teaching Blog Traffic School button.

Facebook has a terms of service.  Their terms of service says that you cannot have people like your page for an entry, leave a comment, leave their e-mail address on your page for an entry, and you cannot announce winners on your Facebook page until you have e-mailed the person or announced it on your blog or somewhere else first.  You cannot collect entries on Facebook   Facebook can shut you down.  I do know of one person who had over 2,000 fans that was shut down by Facebook due to a contest and had to start their page all over.  I would hate for you to be the next one.

You can, however, use an outside app like Rafflecopter or Shortstack.  I don't know Shortstack, but with Rafflecopter you can click Install to Facebook and it will put it on a tab on your page!  Pretty easy!  Then it is okay to count entries for liking your page, leaving a comment on it, etc as long as you collect the entry through Rafflecopter.  Be sure to also in the terms and conditions in Rafflecopter state that you are collecting entries and personal information through Rafflecopter and not on Facebook.  Then you are covered!  I would be happy to help any of you if you are having difficulty getting it to work.

Please share this blog post with anyone who has a facebook page so we can get the word out!

Teaching Blog Traffic School

How has it helped me?  In just over a year I have over 400 followers on my TPT store, I have sold over 1,000 items, just shy of 400 blog followers, over 3,000 followers on pinterest, and over, 1,400 facebook fans.  I also have almost 270,000 views on my blog.

I would not have had the knowledge to gain so many followers in so many places or have the views I have on my blog if it wasn't for the ideas that came from this class.  Check out some of her videos on her you tube page by googling Organized Classroom Blog and you are sure to see how incredible the videos are.

She also has a forum and chatrooms that are online for TBTS members.  What are you waiting for?  Come join me at Teaching Blog Traffic School.  I get a commission if you use the link I have provided.  I would greatly appreciate it.  Once you click the picture, you have to pay using the link on that page and not veer off to the main page or I won't get credit.
