Positive Fridays - Week of October 8th, 2012

Wow, yet another week has flown by.  I have had another great week of subbing so let's get started!

Friday I had the opportunity to sub in 2nd grade for my friend in the morning and 3rd grade in the afternoon.

  • The secretary and office clerk are always so welcoming with a smile on their face!
  • A 4th and 6th grader saw me and waved and called my name, which makes me feel extra special!
  • When I opened the door to let 2nd grade in one student was at the door with her mom and she came right up to me and gave me a hug and a big smile.  Her mom told me that she was so excited I was subbing for them for the morning and I was all she talked about the afternoon before!  So sweet, what a way to fill my bucket first thing in the morning!
  • I enjoyed teaching them about Columbus!
  • It was great to see my wonderful friend who left me with easy plans.
  • The kids told me they wished they had me the rest of the day, so sweet!
  • 3rd Grade was a really easy day because I picked them up at lunch, they had a restroom break while I read The 39 Clues one of my favorite series of books, did a little bit of Vocab practice, had Junior Achievement come in for an hour, recess, and time to pack up and go home!
  • I didn't get much time to bond with them, but one girl did tell me shortly after I arrived that I was the best teacher ever so sweet again!
The next day I worked was not until Wednesday.  Yet again I had 3rd grade, but this time an hour away and I will have this bunch again on Tuesday next week!
  • The secretary was very kind and welcoming, as was the office staff up front!  It made me feel good coming in to a school I only had the chance to sub at once last year.
  • This was a lively group of students who were filled with laughter at times.  I love hearing kids laugh!
  • One girl asked me how to spell my name and then gave me a cute picture of a Pineapple and she had such a huge smile on her face as I thanked her.
  • The children worked hard on a Math Test, reading, and plant review to help with their test the next day.
  • They did an excellent job of helping lead me to different areas of the school as I am still learning how to get from point A to B!
  • The teachers, including their teacher was very welcoming and supportive!
Thursday, I had the chance to sub back at the school I was at on Friday, but this time in 4th grade!  4th time at the school this year as well.
  • As always I was welcomed into this school by the office clerk and secretary both happy to see me!
  • The children came in and one remembered me from last year and was so cheerful and happy to see me and gave me a hug, a parent who dropped his daughter off was so kind and wished me a great day and weekend, another child came in who I had actually taught in 2nd grade and she was so excited to see me and immediately hugged me.  These two girls were so well behaved all day!
  • The children worked very hard on Multiplication, Spelling, Reading, Latitude and Longitude, and Food Webs.
  • They were respectful and polite to me.
  • I saw the 2nd graders and helped take them to lunch when my friend had to help a student in her class and they were so happy to see me again!
  • The 4th grade teachers, ESE teacher, and speech teacher were very supportive, kind, and helpful.
  • I came home and had a call for an interview, which will be Monday at 9:30am at a school 20 minutes for where I live for an instructional assistant position.  Prayers are greatly appreciated as this could lead to a regular teaching position in the future.
In blogging news we are over 170,000 views, thank you all so much!  Let's roll to 175,000 by next week!

Thanks for hoppin' by Hopkins' Hoppin' Happenings.  Keep on smiling!
