Tutoring Tuesdays - September 18th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! Just a few days away until Fall/Autumn comes. Many of you will enjoy the beautiful trees with their leaves changing colors. That doesn't happen in Florida! I am jealous. I hope someday to go on vacation somewhere during the Fall to see those beautiful trees.

I started out tutoring reviewing multiplication by 4's using my Multiplication Facts Bump Fluency. She did a terrific job!

Next we worked on shading fractions with denominators of 7, 8, and 9 using my Identifying Fractions Task Cards. Like always I put it with a game board to make it more fun. These cards currently have denominators of 2 through 10. There are 48 cards, 2 recording sheets, and 2 answer keys.

We then reviewed fractions of a group by using my Apples Fractions of a Group Task Cards. There are 12 in all, plus a worksheet. She no longer needs them, but you can get the little apple erasers at Target or Amazon and have the children use those to put into groups! After missing the first one as it had been a long time since this was practiced she didn't miss another question!

 
I introduced rounding to the hundred's place with my Scarecrows Rounding To the Hundred's Place Task Cards. This game comes with a game board. Land on a scarecrow the student gets to go again, but land on a crow and go back to start! It comes with 24 task cards, a recording sheet, and answer key.

Tutoring Tuesdays - March 20th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! Tomorrow is my birthday. I'll be 39! I will post an exclusive FREEBIE in my VIP Facebook Group (not the same as my page). Hop on over by clicking HERE to get it.

Last week we started tutoring practicing division by 2 using both ways for division using my Puppy Division by 2 Race. If you land on a puppy you get to go again! You can grab this one also for FREE in my VIP Facebook Group. If you don't teach division you can use the game board with any cards. Find it in the file section of the page.

Next we worked on Perimeter using my new Perimeter Task Cards. Mostly just adding the 4 sides of a rectangle, but we did a few with 2 of the sides having a missing number. She did an amazing job and didn't miss a single question! I again put it with a game board that isn't included, but you can use it with any game board or any way that traditional task cards can be used for!

Then we worked on Multiplying by 3's using my a bump game from my Multiplication Bump Facts Fluency. She had a blast and didn't miss, but a couple!

We finished with some 4 digit subtraction, which she did outstanding on!

Featured Freebie Fridays - July 7th, 2017

Goodbye June, hello July! Wow the first Friday of July. Time is flying bye! School starts in about a month in the county I live in. Stores are starting to put school supplies on sale.

This week's FREEBIE is a fun Bump game. This game is called Add or Subtract Bump. Children roll two dice and spin a spinner to see if they add the dice together or subtract the smaller number from the larger number. Then place the correct sum or difference on the number of the game board. If the other student gets the same sum or difference they bump their partner off unless that partner has two counters or cubes on the number. Then they just lose a turn. The first to get rid of all 10 counters or cubes wins. So much fun!

Featured Freebie Fridays - May 19th, 2017

Happy Friday!!! The year is winding down. Some of you may already be out. The county I live in their last day of school is next Wednesday for the kiddos.

Tutoring Tuesdays - April 11th, 2017

Welcome to tutoring Tuesdays! I really tutor on Thursday afternoons, but this gives me more time to show some things I worked on the previous week and possibly other sessions when I don't tutor. Pictures were taken before or after tutoring. Currently I tutor a 1st grader so these will be primary activities. These activities will work well in the classroom and for home school students too.

One of my favorites to use during tutoring is the game Bump! Bump is a fun engaging game where children roll a die (dice) or a spinner and cover the number on the game board (or word if a reading game). Then the next player goes. If the same child gets the same number (or word) twice they place a 2nd cube or counter (same color) on it and then that space is locked. If anyone gets it again they simply lose their turn. However, if there is only one on the space and the other player gets the same number or word they bump them off and take the space! This game can take 10 minutes or a half an hour. Here is a free one that we played yesterday perfect for Easter. Easter Baskets Subtracting from 13 Bump.

I also worked on Easter Addition 2 Digit Regrouping Task Cards using bunny task cards. I placed a game board that comes with the 30 task cards to make it more fun. Children solve an equations and  roll one die and move that spaces on the game board. If they land on a snake they go back to start, but if they land on a chick they get to roll or spin again. This game also comes with bunny spinners. I forgot to take a picture of that.

I have a lot of task cards and race games in my store for addition, subtraction, multiplication, sight words, fluency phrases, etc. They are a favorite of kids!

I finally we worked on some Addition and Subtraction Word Problems to 10. I gave her one task card at a time and she solved it on a dry erase board showing how to solve it.

Positive Fridays - February 10th, 2017

Wow, already the 2nd Friday in February. Time is flying by. Tonight will be incredible with full moon, eclipse, and meteors. I hope you get to catch it and your own children too. Now on to the freebies!

Today's featured freebie is a new one. Adding 4 Numbers addends task cards. I created these to use in tutoring with a 1st grade private school student. Children can use doubles and making 10 to help them solve these problems. Task Cards are great to put with any game board (like the many race games I have), Scoot, Quiz, Quiz Trade, small groups, learning centers, RTI, whole group, journals, early finishers, etc. Lots of different ways to use them. Freebie Fridays - February 3rd, 2017

It's already February! Wow, January flew by so quickly. I am thankful that in January I stayed completely healthy. 2016 wasn't too kind to my health and I am believing that 2017 will be so much better. Enjoy this week's freebies!

This week's Freebie is Valentine Monster Sight Word Games contains two games. One is a game with cards where your students read a sight word, roll one die (dice) and move that many spaces on the game board. Watch out for the monsters they will send the student back to start, but if your student lands on a love bunny they get to go again. The other game is print, add a die (dice) or spinner and play! That game contains sight words on the game board. Children read the sight word they land on and again if they land on a monster they go back to start. There are no bunnies on that game.
