Tutoring Tuesdays - July 31st, 2018

Happy last Tuesday in July! Where in the world has time gone! I'll have a special announcement at the end of the blog post so be sure to read all the way to the bottom!!!

This week I worked with her on 5 digit addition regrouping using my 5 Digit Addition Regrouping Summer Task Cards. It includes 24 task cards in color and black and white. I put them with a game board in tutoring, which does not come with this set, but you can use them as traditional task cards. They work perfect for the game "Scoot." These include a recording sheet and answer key!

We finished tutoring practicing elapsed time to the hour and half an hour using my Telling Time to the Hour and Half Hour Task Cards. It had been a few weeks as they were on vacation, but she is starting to grasp it. You can see how I used those cards for elapsed time by checking out my last Tutoring Tuesday post HERE.

I am happy to announce the Teachers Pay Teachers Back to School sale on Wednesday August 1st and Thursday August 2nd, 2018! You will get 25% off my store by using the code: BTSFRESH at checkout. Please note all of TPT will NOT be 25% off. That is up to each individual store. I have set everyone of my products for sale at 20% off and the code BTSFRESH makes it 25%. Click the picture to follow my store and start putting things in your cart for Wednesday! I will also have my Teacher's Dojo and Teacher's Notebook stores on sale for 20%. Tutoring Tuesdays - August 15th, 2017

Tutoring Tuesdays is back! The little one was on vacation for a couple of weeks and I was busy setting up a brand new store so I did not write any post on Tuesdays.

We first reviewed 2 digit by 2 digit subtraction regrouping using my 2 Digit Subtraction Regrouping Apple Task Cards. I have her write on the cards as I laminated them. Otherwise you can give them scrap paper. I use the game board that came with it but you are welcome to use it for Scoot or any other cooperative group activity. If a student lands on an apple with a worm they get chased back to start. She decided to put the worms in jail so it was a safe spot. She drew jail bars over the worm. She has an awesome imagination that many kids don't have anymore. I let her as to me it's all about the child learning the skill and she did terrific!

Next we worked more on the 9's addition trick that I mentioned before using this game board that I will be adding to the Primary Reading and Math Bundle. They simple roll one die (dice) and move that many spaces on the game board.

Last we worked a little bit on 3 digit addition regrouping with my 3 Digit Addition 4 In A Row game. There are 4 different game boards. Children can either share a game board like I did with her and spin two spinners and adding them together. Then they find it on the board and put a counter on it. Get 4 in a row they win! This way they can wind up blocking each other. Or you can give each student a game board and they just try to get 4 in a row with no chance of anyone blocking them.

Tutoring Tuesdays - May 30th, 2017

I hope each of you are on summer vacation if not I know those of you in the united states are getting close!

Last week in tutoring we worked more on 3 digit addition regrouping. I used my Hot Air Balloon 3 Digit Addition Regrouping Task Cards. There is enough room for her to write on the cards to come up with the answers. I put it with the hot air balloon game board that comes with this product. You can use dice or the spinner that is included. We used the spinner. If a student lands on the hot air balloon they get to go again. She did a great job! Then I gave her a worksheet with just 9 questions on it and she got 8 correct! I will have the worksheets available in my store at some point.

Next we worked on addition and subtraction 3 number equations. She worked on this in school and even has a few each time on timed one minute test. These Monster Addition and Subtraction 3 Number Equations Task Cards made reviewing this skill fun. She asked where to put the answer and then she suggested in the monsters mouth! Children have to watch out for the monster as it will chase them back to start! So much!

Tutoring Tuesdays - May 23rd, 2017

For some of you this is your last full week before you are off for the summer. Enjoy your wonderful kiddos!

Last Thursday, the little one I tutor had her last day of school so she's already out for the summer. Lucky her! We started off working on reviewing first grade skills using more of my 1st Grade Review Task Cards. We worked on identifying the one's place, counting coins, skip counting by 3's, telling time to the 5 minutes, adding 2 numbers without regrouping, adding 3 numbers without regrouping, telling what number comes next, adding 2 digit plus 1 digit with regrouping, identifying a fraction by shading in the part, fractions of a group, adding 2 digit plus 2 digit with regrouping, and 3 number equations! I put the cards as always with a fun game board. The game board does not come with these task cards. The game board can be found in my Primary Reading and Math Games Bundle with sight word cards.

1st Grade Math Review Task Cards

Then we worked on 3 digit plus 3 digit regrouping. Yes she started learning that at the end of first grade! Keep in mind she is private school. She did very well only missing a couple of problems. We used my Camping 3 Digit Addition Regrouping Task Cards that comes with a fun game board. If you land on shelter you get to go again, but watch out for the bears and raccoons they will chase you back to start!

When is your last day of school? Let me know in the comments!

Tutoring Tuesdays - May 16th, 2017

I hope the mothers out there had a Happy Mother's Day on Sunday!

Last Thursday, I started tutoring off with my 2 Digit Addition Regrouping Beach Task Cards. I used the shell game board from the pack. It also comes with a beach ball game board or can be used as traditional task cards. I love the cards as the kids can write on, wipe off with them. Then I gave her a quick assessment using my 2 Digit Regrouping Spring No Prep Printables. She got 100% on it!

Then I used my fun Addition and Subtraction 3 Number Equation Fish Puzzles. I gave her 12 (of the 32) puzzles to put together and she did a great job! Even when it was down to process of elimination of where they fit she checked the equations to make sure I hadn't made a mistake creating them. These are in color and b/w. The below example is in b/w but printed using colored cardstock.

Then we had time to play my Space Addition Facts Race working on sums of 12, 13, and 14. This one isn't yet updated in my Primary Reading and Math Games Bundle but it will be in there this summer along with some updated games. Grab it while you can before the price goes up and you'll be able to download what I add for free!

Featured Freebie Fridays - May 5th, 2017

Happy Friday! I hope that you have had a spectacular Teacher Appreciation Week whether it was celebrated this week or last week at your school. Do know that I appreciate you! I hope you had the chance to shop in the Teachers Pay Teachers and Teacher's Notebook sitewide sales. There is still time to shop at Teacher's Notebook. Now on to today's freebie!

Today, I have a new freebie for you. I have been working hard on 2 digit regrouping with the 1st grader I tutor. So I decided to make a set of task cards for you too! These Sailboat 2 Digit Addition Regrouping Task Cards come with a fun board game. Of course you can still use just the cards with the recording sheet to play Scoot, Quiz Quiz Trade or any other cooperative group game, place at a center, station, or rotation, small groups, early finishers, etc. I have many suggestions included with the download. I appreciate positive feedback. Please remember it does cost me money to make these freebies free for you! It just takes you a minute to click back after downloading and leaving that feedback. Please do not place freebies on any website without permission from myself, which likely will be no. I want people to download them from my store so they can give me feedback.

Once I use these in tutoring I will share pictures of the game in action.

Tutoring Tuesdays - April 11th, 2017

Welcome to tutoring Tuesdays! I really tutor on Thursday afternoons, but this gives me more time to show some things I worked on the previous week and possibly other sessions when I don't tutor. Pictures were taken before or after tutoring. Currently I tutor a 1st grader so these will be primary activities. These activities will work well in the classroom and for home school students too.

One of my favorites to use during tutoring is the game Bump! Bump is a fun engaging game where children roll a die (dice) or a spinner and cover the number on the game board (or word if a reading game). Then the next player goes. If the same child gets the same number (or word) twice they place a 2nd cube or counter (same color) on it and then that space is locked. If anyone gets it again they simply lose their turn. However, if there is only one on the space and the other player gets the same number or word they bump them off and take the space! This game can take 10 minutes or a half an hour. Here is a free one that we played yesterday perfect for Easter. Easter Baskets Subtracting from 13 Bump.

I also worked on Easter Addition 2 Digit Regrouping Task Cards using bunny task cards. I placed a game board that comes with the 30 task cards to make it more fun. Children solve an equations and  roll one die and move that spaces on the game board. If they land on a snake they go back to start, but if they land on a chick they get to roll or spin again. This game also comes with bunny spinners. I forgot to take a picture of that.

I have a lot of task cards and race games in my store for addition, subtraction, multiplication, sight words, fluency phrases, etc. They are a favorite of kids!

I finally we worked on some Addition and Subtraction Word Problems to 10. I gave her one task card at a time and she solved it on a dry erase board showing how to solve it.
