Tutoring Tuesdays - November 6th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! I hope your kiddos had a great Halloween!

I surprised her by dressing up as The Cat in the Hat. They have a dog and the dog wasn't quite sure what to think of me and didn't like me dressed up so they had to put the dog in the parents room. The dog likes to chase their cat and well I was a cat. It was an interesting adventure, but the 3rd grader loved my outfit!

Last week we continued working on long division with 4 digits and remainders using my Haunted House Long Division Task Cards with dividing by 2, 3, 4, and 5. She also checked each answer on the white board. If students write large they will need scrap paper or a white board for the long division. There are 24 task cards in color and black and white, plus a recording sheet. This one is available for FREE in my VIP Facebook group!

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 23rd, 2018

Happy Tuesday! I can't believe that next Wednesday is Halloween already! Don't forget to follow my store HERE (this link will have you automatically follow my TPT store if you are logged in) to see my new resources including a new FREEBIE that I just uploaded a couple of days ago! Please note today's product on this blog post is not free.

This week for the entire tutoring hour we worked on dividing 3 digit numbers by 2, 3, 4, and 5 using my Long Division with Remainders Werewolves Task Cards. She did a much better job this time. We also worked on checking the answers to make sure she had the correct answer. There are 24 cards in color and black and white, a recording sheet, and answer key!

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 16th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! Just a couple of more weeks until Halloween!!!

Last week in tutoring with the 3rd grader we spent the whole time working on dividing 2 digits divided by 1 digit with remainders (dividing by 2, 3, and 4) and then checking the answer using my Long Division with Remainders Pumpkins Task Cards. I had her check it using the white board, but I wrote small enough on the cards in the example to do both. I put it with a game board to make it more fun in tutoring, but these are just traditional task cards that don't come with a game board. There are 24 in all in both color and black and white. There is a recording sheet and answer key. The students will need to write small to fit the answer in the recording sheet or use lined paper!

We also did a couple with 3 digits, but didn't have much time for that. She was starting in class with 4 digits last week with remainders. Yes, in 3rd grade!

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 9th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! I hope you are all enjoying the fall weather. We have a Tropical Storm in the Gulf that is supposed to turn into a hurricane. Thankfully so far we aren't in the path of it, but that could change. Prayers for those in North Florida and those who are in the path of this hurricane.

I started out tutoring with the 3rd grader with counting coins with the half dollar since she had to learn to recognize it in school. We used my Counting Coins with Half Dollars Task Cards. She did an incredible job! It comes with 24 task cards, a recording sheet, and answer key.

Next we reviewed subtracting across zeroes with my Squirrels Subtracting Across Zeroes Task Cards. These have 3 or 4 zeroes in each problem. She did a great job, not missing a single equation! There are 24 task cards in color and black and white. There is also an answer key and recording sheet.

We finished tutoring practicing dividing with remainders and checking division. I couldn't find my cards that I thought I brought. Later I did find it in my bag. So I wrote problems on the white board and had her do some on there. We will work more on this during this week's tutoring session. Check back on my blog next Tuesday to see it.

Tutoring Tuesdays - September 11th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! I hope those who finally started back with their kiddos had a great first week of school! Today is a sad day in our history. I know many of you remember 9/11. Prayers to all the family members of those whose who lost a loved one on that very sad day.

We started off tutoring by counting dollars and coins using my Counting Dollars and Coins Task Cards. This is also available in a huge bundle! I had her write the amount using the dollar sign and decimal point on a white board. If you would prefer there is a recording sheet that they can write the answers on. I put it with a game board as always, which doesn't come with the cards, but any game board would work!

Next we worked on drawing hands on a clock to the 5 minutes. I wrote the digital time and she drew the hands on the clock. The clocks are available from Graphics from the Pond.

We finished tutoring reviewing rounding to the ten's place using my Fall Zombies Rounding to the Ten's Place Task Cards. Students who land on a Zombie get chased back to start! It also comes with a recording sheet and answer key if you prefer to use them to play Scoot or hold them accountable at a center!

Tutoring Tuesdays - November 14th, 2017

Happy Tuesday! Thanksgiving is getting close. I hope everyone is enjoying the Fall/Autumn weather.

Last week, I worked on a skill the 2nd grader told me she was working on in school. She has to solve two addition equations with 3 addends and then compare the two. So I created this FREEBIE for it called Turkey Thanksgiving Equations Comparing Numbers Task Cards. I used the game board with her as she loves games, but you can use it for Scoot if you prefer or any other cooperative activity. Click the picture to grab it for FREE and leave perfect positive feedback to show your thanks!

Next we reviewed Odd and Even Numbers using my Squirrels Odd or Even Task Cards. These come with a fun optional board that of course we used! The child can simply say if it is Odd/Even like I had her do, underline the answer on the card if it is laminated or placed in plastic sleeves, or use the recording sheet provided.

We finished tutoring doing a little bit of 2 digit Subtraction Regrouping with my Turkey Thanksgiving 2 Digit Subtraction Regrouping Task Cards. These come in color and b/w. We used the same game board as above which is not included. You can get the game board for free though with the comparing number task cards above! Click on the picture to purchase the task cards.

Tutoring Tuesdays - November 7th, 2017

Happy November! I bet those of you up north are enjoying the colorful leaves. Here in FL leaves don't change colors. My oak trees don't even lose their leaves until February.

Last week, I worked with the 2nd grader on some grammar that she was having some difficulty with in school. I understand why as even when I taught for many years we had such little time to teach grammar that we had to fly through it.

We started working on identifying nouns in a sentence using my Nouns Task Cards. We put it with my ghost game board to make it more fun. Land on a ghost go back to start. The game board can be purchased with my Ghost Sight Word Race. There are 24 cards in all and includes a recording sheet and answer key. Some have one noun and others have multiple nouns.

Next we worked on identifying the proper nouns in a sentence and correcting them by capitalizing it using my Proper Nouns Task Cards. This one I put with my Frankenstein game board. If you land on Frankenstein go back to start. The game board can be purchased with my Frankenstein Sight Word Race. There are 24 cards in all and includes a recording sheet and answer key. I had her correct them on a white board rather than use the recording sheet.

We finished by working on picking the correctly spelled plural noun in parentheses using my Plural Nouns Task Cards. I let her pick a game board and she picked the Zombies game board. That can be purchased with my Zombies Comparing Numbers to 1,000 Task Cards. The Plural Nouns Task Cards comes with 24 cards and includes a recording sheet and answer key. I laminated these cards and had her circle the correct plural noun.

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 24th, 2017

One more week until Halloween. Wow time flies!!!

Last Wednesday, I started out working with the 2nd grader on practicing subtracting 9's by playing Pumpkin Subtracting 9 Bump. We worked on the trick I taught her to add 1 to the 2nd digit to get the answer. Example 15-9 = 5+1 so it is 6. Another example 17-9 = 7+1=8. Easy quick way to memorize it. Click the picture to grab it for FREE and be sure to leave positive feedback to show your appreciation. Remember it cost me money to make these free for you!

Pumpkins Subtracting 9 Bump

Next we worked on reviewing 2 digit by 2 digit subtraction regrouping with my Subtraction 2 Digit Regrouping Pumpkin Task Cards. It comes with a game board. Children make their way through the pumpkins and the first to the finish line wins. I laminate them so she can write on the cards. There is a recording sheet and answer key so you can use them with or without the game board. Click on the picture if you would like to use this in your classroom.

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 10th, 2017

We moved tutoring to Wednesdays which gives me even more time to get this blog post up. Check out the fun games I did with the superstar 2nd grader that I tutor.

The first thing I did was review before, after, and between numbers to 120 using my Bats Before, After, and Between Numbers Task Cards. I put them with the Bats game board that goes with my Bats Sight Word Race game. Land on an owl go back to start as it eats the bat but land on a bat you get to go again. These cards can also be used to play Scoot, Quiz, Quiz Trade, etc. They come with a recording sheet and answer key. Click on the picture to grab the task cards (without the game board).

Bats Before After Between Numbers to 120 Task Cards

Next we worked on ordering numbers to 1,000 least to greatest, but they can also be used greatest to least. We used my Fall Greatest or Least to 1,000 Task Cards and the game board that goes with it. The game board has spots that tell children to go back to start or go again. Click on the picture to grab the task cards with the game board.

Fall Greatest and Least to 1,000 Task Cards

We ended tutoring with my 3 Digit Addition Regrouping Task Cards and put it with my Spider game board which can be found on my Spider Sight Word Fluency Phrases Race teaching resource. Children who land on a spider have to go back to start. These cards are great for Scoot. A recording sheet and answer key are included. There is enough room to actually write on the cards. I always give her a dry erase marker and have her solve it right on the card. Click on the picture to grab the task cards (without the game board).

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 3rd, 2017

Wow, it is already Fall/Autumn! It has been awhile since I last posted for tutoring Tuesdays because I didn't tutor for 3 weeks. I last tutored last Thursday so this post will be about that. I also was without power a couple of days due to Hurricane Irma and then had to get my computer fixed to turn on. It's been an adventure but I am same and unharmed. We did not get hurricane winds here on the space coast in Florida. Thank goodness it went west. I still had some damage to the roof and fence, but it sure could have been worse.

Anyway, back on topic I had a great time tutoring the superstar 2nd grader! She is such a smart cookie. We started working on reviewing missing number equations by filling in the missing addend using my Scarecrows Missing Number Equations Task Cards. These can be used as traditional task cards for Scoot or any other cooperative group game or placed at a center. I put it with my Scarecrow Sight Word board game that you get with the sight word race game. Land on a crow go back to start, but land on a scarecrow you get to go again. Click the picture if you would like to use the task cards with your students!

Next we worked on place value to 1,000 using my Fall Monsters Place Value to 1,000 Task Cards which includes the board game. In this game children pick a card and read to see if they need to tell what number is in the ones, tens, or hundreds place. Then they roll one dice or a spinner and move that many spaces. Watch out for the monster as it will send you back to start! A recording sheet and answer key are included if you would prefer to use it for Scoot, Quiz, Quiz Trade, etc. Click the picture if you would like to use the task cards with your students!

Fall Monsters Place Value to 1,000 Task Cards

Next we used a Bump game from my Subtraction Fluency Bump Games to practice 9 facts. I taught her to add the two digit together in the 2 digit number to be able to subtract 9 quickly. So if it is 14-9 add 1+4 to get 5 for the answer 14-9=5. She picked that up really quick! Click the picture if you would like to use the task cards with your students!

Subtraction Facts Bump Fluency

We ended with my Counting Coins Task Cards. I put it with my Community Helpers Sight Word Race game board. If you land on a community helper you have to go back to start. The money task cards come with a recording sheet and an answer key so you can use it for Scoot or any other cooperative group activity or for early finishers.

Tutoring Tuesdays - September 5th, 2017

Many of you are finally back teaching the kiddos. I wish you a successful school year!

Last Thursday, we reviewed telling time to the 5 minutes with the amazing 2nd grader! We played Apple Race Time to the 5 Minutes. After telling the time, the student rolls one die (dice) or a spinner and moves that many spaces. Watch out for the worm as it will send you back to start. There is also a recording sheet and answer key so if you would prefer to use them like traditional task cards for Scoot or another game or activity you can!

Apple Race Time To The 5 Minutes

Then we reviewed comparing numbers to 120 with my Clip It School Comparing Numbers to 120. It is perfect for also working on fine motor skills as children clip the answer. I have also included a recording sheet and answer key if you would prefer to use it for Scoot or another activity. You can also laminate them and have the students circle the answer.

Clip It School Comparing Numbers to 120

Next we worked more on 9's addition facts with my FREEBIE Crayons 9 Addition Facts Race where children solve an addition problem on crayons and move around the game board. Some of the notebook papers on the game board say to go back to start or go again.

School Addition 9's Facts Race

We finished tutoring reviewing putting numbers in order using my Number Order to 120 Task Cards. I put them with a game board that I have as she likes playing games. You can put them with any game board or play Scoot, Quiz, Quiz trade or any other cooperative group game, place at a center, use for early finishers, etc. There is a recording sheet and answer key included!
