Tutoring Tuesdays - May 1st, 2019

Happy Tuesday! Wow, it is already May! Time is flying by fast! Hang on teachers you'll be off for the summer soon, especially those of you who started in July and August!

Last year, I started working with the 3rd grader on factors using my Factors Task Cards. She found the factors and put them in order. She did quite a good job other than one of the higher numbers. I taught her if it is even you can always divide by 2. These come with 24 task cards in black and white only, a recording sheet, an answer key, and suggestions on using them. We played a game with them that you can see below. The game board does not come with these cards. In this game if you land on the rainbow poop you go back to start, but if you land on the unicorn you get to go again.

Next, we worked on more long division by 2 digits working on my Chicks 2 Digit Long Division Task Cards. We only got to do a couple as she had a hard time on the first problem due to focusing and making a lot of careless mistakes. I plan to keep working with her on this skill next week. She can absolutely do it as she flew through the 2nd problem pretty easily and I've seen her do it in the past! This is a 5th grade skill, this 3rd grader is doing! There are 24 task cards in color and black and white. It includes a recording sheet and answer key.

Tutoring Tuesdays - April 23rd, 2019

Happy Tuesday! It's been awhile since I've been able to tutor due to the last couple being canceled, but I finally got to tutor last Wednesday, the amazing 3rd grader! I hope each of you had a wonderful Easter!

Last week we continued working on 2 digit long division by 4 digit using my Easter 2 Digit Long Division With Remainders Task Cards. She did a great job on the division with some careless mistakes on the multiplication to check it. I see a lot of her in me as I made all kinds of careless mistakes in elementary school. Part of that was due to me going too fast. She doesn't fly through the work the way that I used to, thankfully! There are 24 task cards in color and black and white. I have included a recording sheet and answer key. If children write small enough they can write on the cards if laminated or put in plastic sleeves. Otherwise, use a white board for fun!

Tutoring Tuesdays - April 2nd, 2019

Happy Tuesday!!! I didn't tutor a couple of weeks ago due to spring break, but I was back at it yesterday. If you haven't heard about my sick dog check out all my updates and donate or share if you can. Remember whatever you donate I will gladly give you 3 times worth the products of your choice. You would be helping me with these crazy bills and getting some great resources in return!

Don't forget to follow my store by clicking here so you don't miss any freebies or great resources!

Last week we continued working on the long division dividing by 2 digits with my 2 Digit Long Division Slime Task Cards. She absolutely loves slime so I had to create something with slime of course! She understands the steps well. I am going to continue working on this with her next week as she does make some careless mistakes from time to time. There are 24 cards in color and black and white. I have also included a recording sheet and answer key!

Tutoring Tuesdays - March 19th, 2019

Happy Tuesday! In 2 more days, I will be the big 40 years old!!! Before, I get to tutoring, I am doing a very special deal for my birthday and beyond!

My sweet little Shih Tzu wound up at the Animal Hospital after making continuous noises a week ago last Friday. She wound up passing away twice as they were doing xrays and they brought her back to life twice with CPR. She wound up needing oxygen and has been there quite a bit since then. She is home with me now! I have created a Go Fund Me page to help with these crazy vet bills. If you would like to donate, I will send you TRIPLE that amount in teaching resources. All you have to do is email me at tigermagic@bellsouth.net the products you want and I will get them to you in 24 hours or less. Usually quite quickly unless I'm sleeping! So if you donate $5, you'll get $15 worth of things in my store! $10 you'd get $50! $1, you'd get $3! This is far better deal than any site wide sale and you'll be helping me with my dog! Click the picture to check out my Go Fund Me, see the vet bills, and read the updates! If you can't donate, please share with your pet and animal friends! This is why the past two weeks I've posted covers, rather than in action, but I may change them out when I have time.

We started tutoring working on equivalent fractions using my Equivalent Fractions Task Cards! There are 24 cards, a recording sheet, and a sample answer key (there are too many possible answers). These are in black and white. She did a great job!

We finished tutoring working on more 4 digit by 2 digit long division task cards using my 2 Digit Long Division St. Patrick's Day Bugs Task Cards. These come in color and black and white and includes a recording sheet and answer key! She had some difficulty mostly with putting the numbers on top after figuring out how many. We will keep working on this one. She will get it! She's only in 3rd grade yet doing 5th grade math!

Tutoring Tuesdays - March 12th, 2019

Happy Tuesday! In about a week it will finally be spring! I hope those of you on daylight saving time are enjoying the extra daylight! This week I am just showing cover pages due to time.

Last week in tutoring, I helped the 3rd grader first with practicing multiplying 3 digits by 2 digits using my Sloths 3 Digits by 2 Digits Multiplication Task Cards. Yes, 3rd grade can you believe that? She did a pretty good job with it. There are 24 task cards in color and black and white, a recording sheet, and an answer key!

Next we worked a little more on equivalent fractions using my Clip It Equivalent Fractions. She did a little better than the previous week. She seemed to be starting to grasp how to find an equivalent fraction. I will keep working with her on this skill. There are 24 task cards in black and white, a recording sheet, and answer key.

We finished tutoring working on 2 digit long division using my Flamingos 2 Digit Long Division Task Cards. She had to divide 4 digits by 2 digits. She also checked her answers with multiplication. She did much better multiplying this time and did excellent dividing. She said she wasn't sure how to add the remainders so I showed her that and then she did terrific! These also come with 24 task cards in color and black and white. A recording sheet and answer key are also included.

Tutoring Tuesdays - November 13th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! We are getting closer to Thanksgiving here in America. I want to thank all of the Veterans for their service to our country. Thank you so much for fighting for our freedom. You are amazing men and women!

This week for tutoring we did a few PreAlgebra questions using my Fall Leaves PreAlgebra Balancing Equations Task Cards. Can you believe in 3rd grade they are doing PreAlgebra? I goofed and had the n in place of the 2nd number in the first equation. I guess she has only done it in the 1st place and was confused so we just flipped it. This set of task cards comes with an optional board game. Land on a + space go ahead that many spaces, but land on a - space go back that many spaces. There are 24 task cards in color only with a recording sheet, and answer key.

Next we worked more on long division with remainders by using my Thanksgiving Long Division with Remainders Task Cards. These task cards are for dividing by 2, 3, 4, and 5. They are in color and black and white and come with a recording sheet and answer key.

Tutoring Tuesdays - November 6th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! I hope your kiddos had a great Halloween!

I surprised her by dressing up as The Cat in the Hat. They have a dog and the dog wasn't quite sure what to think of me and didn't like me dressed up so they had to put the dog in the parents room. The dog likes to chase their cat and well I was a cat. It was an interesting adventure, but the 3rd grader loved my outfit!

Last week we continued working on long division with 4 digits and remainders using my Haunted House Long Division Task Cards with dividing by 2, 3, 4, and 5. She also checked each answer on the white board. If students write large they will need scrap paper or a white board for the long division. There are 24 task cards in color and black and white, plus a recording sheet. This one is available for FREE in my VIP Facebook group!

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 30th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! Wow, tomorrow is Halloween! Where has time gone? I get such few if any Trick or Treaters at my house so I don't get to see all the incredible costumes that get more and more creative every year. Feel free to share pictures of your own kiddos all dressed up on my Facebook page or VIP group! Also don't forget to follow my store so you don't miss any resources including freebies

We are continuing to work extra hard on long division this time with 4 digits. We used my Skeletons Long Division Task Cards. These cards are dividing by 2, 3, 4, and 5. There are 24 task cards in all in color and black and white. I have included a recording sheet and an answer key. Make it fun by adding a white board for your students to solve the problems. You can also have the student check the division as the child that I tutor does to make sure she got the correct answer.

Please note today's product on this blog post is not free.

This week for the entire tutoring hour we worked on dividing 3 digit numbers by 2, 3, 4, and 5 using my Long Division with Remainders Werewolves Task Cards. She did a much better job this time. We also worked on checking the answers to make sure she had the correct answer. There are 24 cards in color and black and white, a recording sheet, and answer key!

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 16th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! Just a couple of more weeks until Halloween!!!

Last week in tutoring with the 3rd grader we spent the whole time working on dividing 2 digits divided by 1 digit with remainders (dividing by 2, 3, and 4) and then checking the answer using my Long Division with Remainders Pumpkins Task Cards. I had her check it using the white board, but I wrote small enough on the cards in the example to do both. I put it with a game board to make it more fun in tutoring, but these are just traditional task cards that don't come with a game board. There are 24 in all in both color and black and white. There is a recording sheet and answer key. The students will need to write small to fit the answer in the recording sheet or use lined paper!

We also did a couple with 3 digits, but didn't have much time for that. She was starting in class with 4 digits last week with remainders. Yes, in 3rd grade!

Tutoring Tuesdays - October 2nd, 2018

Happy Tuesday! October is here! Bye September! How is the weather where you are? Is it cooling off? Still very hot here in Florida!

Be sure to follow my TPT store so you don't miss anything new! Clicking HERE will automatically follow me if you are logged in! Easy! Also follow me on Teacher's Dojo (you'll have to click the follow button after logging in) where I have over 800 of my resources. Sadly, Teachers Notebook is no more. :(

I started off tutoring with the 3rd grader on long division dividing by 2 using my Unicorn Long Dividing by 2 Task Cards. She got the hang of it and was doing fantastic after the first several we did. There are 24 task cards in color and black and white. I put it with my unicorn game board, but that does not come with this set, but can be bought separately. There is a recording sheet and answer key so you can play "Scoot", put at a center, use in small groups, etc.

We finished tutoring working on checking addition with subtraction using my Check 2 Digit Addition with Subtraction Task Cards. After 1 example she did a fantastic job and didn't miss a single question! These come in color (for the border) and black and white. There are 24 task cards, a recording sheet, and answer key!

Tutoring Tuesdays - September 25th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! Wow, already the very last Tuesday of September!!!

Last week I started out working on subtracting across zeroes with the 3rd grader using my new Fall Monsters Subtracting Across Zeroes Task Cards. There are 24 task cards in color and black white, a recording sheet, and answer key!

Fall Monsters Subtracting Across Zeroes Task Cards

Next we worked on 2 digit by 1 digit multiplication using my FREE Mermaids 2 Digit by 1 Digit Multiplication Task Cards. There are 24 task cards in color and black and white and it also includes a recording sheet and answer key. This set works on the lower facts. If you download this please show your kindness by leaving a perfect rating and positive feedback. Remember I spend my own money on fonts and clip art. It is also 17 pages and they prefer that I keep freebies to 10 pages. It has been awhile since I've made something for free so I decided to make this free anyway.

I finished tutoring by doing a little bit of long division dividing by 2 using my Unicorns Long Division Dividing by 2 Task Cards. Can you believe in 3rd grade she is doing long division already? I'll be working more on this with her next week. It includes 24 task cards, a recording sheet, and answer key.

Tutoring Tuesdays - July 10th, 2018

Happy Tuesday! I hope those of you in America had a great 4th of July! The next two weeks I won't have a Tutoring Tuesdays post as the family is on a fun vacation!

Last week, we started tutoring working on filling in the missing number in multiplication equations with one of the factors being no more than 5 using my Summer Crabs Multiplication Missing Number Equations Task Cards. There are 24 task cards, a recording sheet, answer key, and fun game board. Land on a crab and you get clawed back to start!

I finished tutoring helping her learn elapsed time to the hour and a half. We used my Telling Time to the Hour and Half Hour Task Cards. I had her tell me what time it is and then tell me what the time would be if it was an hour and half later. I first had her tell me an hour later and then add the half an hour. This is a very tough concept and I will continue to work with her on this. Toward the end of teaching her this concept her mom brought out an alarm clock that had the hands so I could turn the clock and she could see the hands move.

Tutoring Tuesdays - June 26th, 2018

Happy last Tuesday in June! Wow time is flying by! I did not tutor 2 weeks ago, but I did last week and had another terrific session!

I started out tutoring with a new skill for her. We worked on place value in the 1,000's place using my Fireflies Place Value in the 1,000's Task Cards. She was given a number and she had to read the question at the top to see if it wanted the ones, tens, hundreds, or thousands place. She did a fantastic job. If you use the board game like we did if you land on a firefly you get to go again.

Fireflies Place Value in the Thousands Task Cards

Next, I had her work on again putting numbers in the 1,000s place in order using my Books Ordering Numbers in the 1,000's. She did a great job, only missing a couple.

Books Ordering Numbers in the Thousands

Then I introduced her to ordering fractions from least to greatest. These cards are not for sale, but you can get them from Jason's Online Classroom. He sells them as clip art. First I had her label each fraction. We worked on halves, thirds, and fourths. Then I had her put the halves in order, then the thirds, and last the fourths. She did a fantastic job!

Fractions

We finished tutoring working on counting dollars and coins with twenty dollar bills. On a white board I had her write the amount using the dollar sign and decimal point. She did a fantastic job especially with counting those twenty dollar bills. I put it with a game board, which is not included with the cards. You can use them with any game board or as traditional task cards. A recording sheet and answer key is available!
